J. Crew has undergone a radical make-over from a somewhat boring label (remember the funny colors in their catalogs?) to one of the hottest tickets at New York Fashion Week. Jenna Lyons, the brand’s creative director, deserves much credit for getting celebrities like Beyoncé and First Lady Michelle Obama interested in their clothes. However, the even better news is that J. Crew hasn’t strayed from its core values, producing wearable pieces like tees, trousers and blazers.
The Blythe blouse perfectly illustrates the updating of a classic item through the use of neon color, so big for this season. This silk army shirt reminds me of Equipment’s high-end version but at $98, J. Crew’s blouse is a bargain that you’ll wear repeatedly. I love its versatility as the Blythe is perfectly appropriate for the office but can be worn more casually with jeans and heels. Although available in 8 colors, my favorites are of course the brightest – Bright Sun, Royal Blue and Royal Violet!
Available at J. Crew online or in stores.
