Sweatshirts as High Fashion

It’s true – the humble sweatshirt you last wore to support your college football team is now in fashion. Don’t start digging out your old Champion sweats though because today’s versions have fitted silhouettes, beautiful prints and often cost a small fortune, like Givenchy’s Bambi piece which briefly sold out on net-a-porter. While I’m still trying to understand why anybody in their right mind would purchase a £750 sweatshirt, I will promote the High Street’s take on the trend. In particular, their floral designs look perfect with a pencil skirt and heels for a modern ladylike look. Personally, I love the colorblocking effect of pairing the deeply discounted Juicy Couture sweatshirt I bought last season with brightly colored jeans. My advice: no need to remortgage your house for this trend because Bambi as high fashion will have a short shelf life!

  1. Pepe Jeans spearmint sweatshirt £60
  2. Juicy Couture pineapple sweatshirt (my own)
  3. Warehouse grey woven print sweatshirt £42
  4. River Island orange Eastern-print sweatshirt £28
