Mary Katrantzou for Longchamp: still in stock!

Unsurprisingly, Mary Katrantzou’s collaboration with Topshop was a runaway success as the line, which featured her signature baroque prints, sold out within hours. Luckily Ms. Katrantzou, arguably the hottest UK based designer of the moment, has teamed up with French heritage brand Longchamp to update their ubiquitous canvas travel bags. The result does not disappoint as the beautiful digital prints reflect the theme of  “the meeting between East and West” according to Longchamp’s website. The colors are bright and dazzling and are further enhanced by the inclusion of Japanese lanterns, temples and flowers. The best news though is that these bags can actually be purchased (i.e. are in stock)  both at Longchamp stores and online. I found it unusual that Longchamp’s site doesn’t actively promote this collaboration, instead featuring Kate Moss’ collection on the front page, but personally I think the 4 bags below are better collector’s items!

For purchase, check Longchamp’s website (http://www.longchamp.com). Bags cost between £94-£345.

Hot Buy of the Day: Melie Bianco handbag

As I recently did a post featuring Glamology’s all-natural beauty tips, I figured you might be interested in the fashion equivalent. These Melie Bianco “Lilia” bags, made from vegan material, fulfill the colorblocking trend and are deceptively roomy. My favorite is the orange/pink combo but apparently the yellow/white option is the hardest to keep in stock. I especially like that the neutral colored top handle and tassel provide an elegant anchor to the bright colors. They cost £80 each and are available online at Fashion-Conscience (http://www.fashion-conscience.com/)

Hot Buy of the Day: Asos Aztec clutch

If you’ve been reading this blog for awhile (thank you!), you’ll know that I have a weekly feature called “High Street Hot Buys” where I cull the shops for the latest deals.  I’ve previously limited my posts on this topic to Mondays but there are so many bargains out there to be had that I’ve decided to expand the category to include boutiques and emerging labels in addition to the usual High Street mainstays; hence, the new title “Hot Buy of the Day”.

For this installment, I’ve singled out an Asos clutch which ticks two of the biggest S/S12 trend boxes: tribal and neon. Made of leather, this bag is surprisingly versatile as it can be worn now in colder weather as well as summer nights with a clashing print dress. I love the gorgeous textured clutch featured in Burberry’s latest campaign but I think Asos’ £50 version fits the budget a bit better!
