Splurge vs Steal: the jewelry edition

When I was younger, one of my favorite reads was US Marie Claire’s Splurge vs Steal feature. With the rise of High Street stores and fast fashion, it’s a given that you can get trendy items at far less than designer prices if you put in the effort. For this post, I’ve focused on jewelry as statement bling is huge for the foreseeable future. If you can’t afford the real thing, don’t worry because there are plenty of options!

How to glam up a t-shirt: Classic

In the final installation of my (brief) series on how to make a basic white t-shirt stand out, I’ve highlighted the “classic” look. As I’m not a minimalist, this one is the hardest for me to copy but instead of wearing just one piece, like a chain necklace for example, I might layer a few pieces for a slightly chunkier edge. Charm necklaces or bracelets are the perfect items to add if all else fails!

How to glam up a t-shirt: Tribal

In the second part of my series on how to accessorize a basic shirt (view part 1 here: http://wp.me/p1gaON-Pe), I’ve focused on the ubiquitous tribal trend. There are many ways to run with this look including Masai beaded bracelets, Aztec pyramid rings and even neon rope necklaces but I particularly like the slightly edgier, almost industrial design of NeverMidnight and Merle O’Grady’s pieces.
