Statement necklaces: bring it on!

I’m having a jewelry moment lately (ok, always) as I’ve spotted lots of great pieces especially on Shopbop and Asos.  What’s really exciting me though is the comeback of the enormous, wallflower-be-damned statement necklaces. There is no better conversation starter than rocking up in one of these! They certainly ain’t cheap but a girl can dream right?

Alex Monroe: Whimsical but wearable jewelry

One of my discoveries upon moving to London was the amazing English jewelry brand Alex Monroe (http://alexmonroe.com/) best known for their nature based designs. Each item is handmade by craftspeople in a small studio rather than a factory, assuring uniqueness and fairly intricate detailing. The most recent collection is “chrysanthemum” featuring very lady-like, feminine pieces but my favorite is “daisy bell” with bicycles, tea cups and mice. Despite the quirkiness, the jewelry is always highly wearable and would make a perfect gift, even to younger girls celebrating milestones like a Sweet 16. In my case, all I’ll say is Christmas is coming (that would be a hint to my husband)! Available via the Alex Monroe website or stockists such as Liberty of London.

The bib necklace you need…yes really!

I’m always on the hunt for unique pieces of jewelry because the right ones can lift a boring ensemble and become conversation starters in their own regard. In my experience, I’ve found that vintage cocktail rings (especially worn during the day) and large cuffs have the desired effect; however, I’ve just discovered a new addition. The Marni necklaces below found at The Outnet (THE OUTNET | Discount Designer Fashion Outlet – Deals up to 70% Off) are amazing not only due to the intricate woven design but for the autumnal colors that will lift any monochrome shirt into semi-couture status! Given the 70% discount - not sure they’re worth £295 honestly despite my love - be sure to snap them up before the inevitable sell out.
