High Street Hot Buys: sequins

With the festive season upon us, there’s no better way to brighten up the cold nights than with some sequins. As they have slightly more limited wearability, however, I don’t think there’s any need to splurge on something designers. The pieces below from High Street stores look (even close up) the same as more expensive versions from designers like Ashish. One thing to keep in mind though is that the sequined part of your outfit stands out enough so keep the jewelry and make-up simple!

High Street Hot Buys: Coats

In London, we’re in the midst of an unprecedented heatwave where the temperature has remained over 80F for over a week, much longer than at any point this summer. While I’ve been living in shorts and sandals, I’ve been dreaming about winter coats as they were the stand-out pieces on the A/W runway. Unfortunately, the beautiful candy-colored Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti coats are out of my budget but the High Street has filled the void! There’s alot of styles to choose from but I’m all for color to cheer up those gray, winter days whenever they arrive….

Although it’s summertime and all I want to wear are bright colors and shorts (sometimes together), now is the perfect time to update your wardrobe with a cute little black dress, especially if you can find one in the sales. If you’re looking for direction, I think that Reiss has the best selection of grown-up dresses on the High Street and as the Duchess of Cambridge proved recently, their clothes look more expensive than they are. My favorite is below:

Reiss Sonia dress (on sale for £156)

Speaking of the sales, check out Zara for pleated skirts (which are good with tights in colder weather) and Topshop for t-shirts.
